Absurd as it may sound, protect your plants from the rain. Balcony gardening is all about emulating the delicate balance of nature to a bunch of very different plants, which have come from very different climates and must survive together. Mediterranean ones, (thyme, basil, rosemary and curry plant) which tolerates the biggest amounts of sunlight, must be withdrawn from the balcony in stormy, windy days, in order to avoid fungal diseases and broken twigs. Sage, Lavender and Pelargonium leaves should never be soaked. Sure rain water is healthier for plants. Store it and water your containers with it. Wisely.
